Mateo grew up in Guadalajara before his family moved to the States when he was twelve. He fell in love with engineering through his father's auto repair shop, fascinated by how things worked and how to make them better. After graduating with his mechanical engineering degree, he landed a job designing industrial HVAC systems—steady work that pays the bills but doesn't always excite him. His real passion ignites on Friday nights at the local salsa club, where he's become a regular instructor, helping beginners find their rhythm.
